The six month program includes participation in projects and the development of workshops and short courses or classes for undergraduates in conjunction with teachers from FGV.

Brazilians and foreigners who have a doctorate or are doctoral students can apply for research grants from Fellows in Rio 2016-2017, the deadline for applications is the 30th of April. The program, sponsored by FGVs Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) is in its 3rd edition and will select researchers in law or in correlated areas.

Candidates who are selected will develop their projects in one of four research centers at Direito Rio: Justice and Society, Law and Economics, Technology and Society, and Law and Environment. The six month program includes participation in projects and the development of workshops and short courses or classes for undergraduates in conjunction with teachers from FGV.

According to Eduardo Jordan, coordinator of Fellows in Rio, proposals should aim to adhere to lines of research already conducted by FGV, such as those related to the regulation of the Internet and the role of the Supreme Court, or that are of great relevance to the academic community.

"By opening up space for researchers, we have made contact the main research projects being conducted worldwide. It is a very important initiative for the internationalization of the School. In the last edition we had a high number of applications, with researchers from 27 different nationalities applying " Jordan highlighted.

In the first two editions researchers from major Brazilian and foreign universities applied. Applications were received from: the University of São Paulo (USP), the University of Brasilia (UNB), the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and the Catholic Pontifical University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ); Harvard, Yale and NYU (United States); SciencesPo and Sorbonne (France); London School of Economics and Oxford University (England); Hamburg, Heidelberg and Augsburg Universities (Germany); Jindal University (India) and Universidad Austral (Argentina).

Interested parties should either be studying for or have completed their doctorate and can choose between two semesters, August to December 2016 or January to June 2017. Applications must be sent by e-mail: cri.direito@fgv.br, indicating the preferred semester, a resume or a link to the Lattes / CNPq platform, as well as a research proposal and / or a summary of the thesis of up to 5000 characters.
