The intensive course is entitled “Contemporary Brazil: Politics, Economics and Society”.

Later this month, in São Paulo, Fundação Getulio Vargas will be launching an intensive course for diplomats entitled “Contemporary Brazil: Politics, Economics and Society.” Based on political, economic and social discussions, the course is aimed at providing extensive, in-depth knowledge of contemporary Brazil, helping diplomats to analyze a range of issues involving the country.

The faculty is made up of distinguished professors with PhDs from top international institutions, whose analyses are highly sought after by specialized consulting firms and the media. They are Matias Spektor (Oxford), Oliver Stuenkel (Harvard and Duisburg-Essen), Leonardo Weller (LSE), and Kurt von Mettenheim (Columbia).

The classes will be given in English. The course, which begins on November 19, will take place on two Saturdays, from 8:30 am to 4 pm, and participants will receive in advance a list of the topics to be addressed and required reading for the talks and respective discussions. The subjects discussed will explore the fascinating evolution of Brazilian society in recent years and think of possible scenarios for the country in the near future.
